I'm confused about sports games. Why must I buy the same ones each year to stay relevant? Can I just update them for new content? - And why are only certain sports games famous? Like EA Sports: NBA, FIFA, Madden, NHL... Not really! I don't want FIFA or anything based on real people. I want a video game sport that appeals to those who aren't into actual sports. Is sports licensed under copyright rules so no indie developers can make them? - I'd like a JAM pack of a sports game with daily updates, mods, and online features. No characters should represent real people. I want full customization: the field, rules, everything! - I want a football game using a hockey stick to hit an egg into a basket on a 100-meter ice tennis court. - And can sports games include esports? Since they're based on real sports, do people prefer watching real events over playing them in a game?

I believe Electronic Arts holds the rights for those titles.

1: money
2: they possess the licenses and related details
3: rocket league? haha
4: yes, EA controls most of this
5: haha that idea won’t happen, right?
6: try creating something yourself—those games aren’t popular
7: what do you think? play some esports titles instead? simpler than playing them

FIFA, NHL, NBA, MADDEN and similar brands are authorized to run authentic leagues and teams. Others like PES and 2k Sports have offered versions but with fewer rights. The challenge lies in being a minority—most fans prefer playing with their favorite teams and players, not generic names or random data. Some might wish for more control over features like playtime, but innovation requires a solid foundation. Rocket League stands out as a strong example, similar to mini-games on Nintendo consoles, aiming for an ideal sports experience. However, without regular updates based on real stats, improvements will be limited. Mod support could help, but it would need dedicated developers. For eSports, FIFA leads globally with its massive following, especially soccer, which dominates as an esport. A humorous twist: during an EA board meeting, someone questioned why two football games exist when MADDEN is the top seller. The logic was that MADDEN should be the sole focus in the US, while global sales showed NBA and NHL ahead.

You mentioned adding crocodiles or tigers, but no one responded. Let me know what you'd like to explore next!

I purchase FIFA annually because of fresh mechanics. Those small adjustments can enhance or diminish the overall experience. I’d love if they simply released a game titled FIFA and continuously refresh it each year with new features and player updates. However, EA seems to believe otherwise due to financial constraints. Another enjoyable football title is Kopanito All-Stars Soccer available on Steam. It offers some entertaining power-ups and elements. Unfortunately, online play remains limited for many players.

The reason these games succeed is that they draw from actual experiences and situations people can connect with. I bet most Americans would choose a PGA golf game over a more cartoonish version like Hot Shots because the latter feels too stylized. Still, games rooted in reality often include authentic settings, which makes imagining real-world scenarios enjoyable.
