Major slowdown in BF4 reaches 3.2 FPS – Update
A while back I shared a video about my BF4 experience with certain specs. It would suddenly drop to just 3–5 frames per second without any obvious cause, then jump back up briefly before settling at a very low rate again. I also posted a YouTube clip explaining the issue. After testing without overclocking and updating drivers, the problem persisted. I ruled out driver conflicts, background programs, or high resource usage—except for BF4.exe itself using under 3% CPU. Eventually, I discovered MSI AFTERBURNER was the culprit. It seems to reduce GPU load significantly, sometimes causing stuttering in GTA V, but after switching it off and back on, the frame rates stabilize and gameplay becomes smooth for hours. Still confused—why would an overclocking tool affect my GPU like this? Anyone have any insights?
Don’t remove it unless you really need to—uninstalling can mess things up, especially if you push your GPU too hard. Afterburner will take it away once you delete it. (I still use it for my overclocking and fan settings.)
Sure, I understand. The font color was set automatically, but it’s not visible in the night theme.
