Hey there, friends. We’ve got a tough situation here. You mentioned buying two new Quest 2s but are facing serious lag while gaming. You’re using Steam VR and a virtual desktop, but you’re seeing huge lag spikes that make the game unplayable. Both of your rigs are powerful—your PC has an i7 9700K with OC@5GHz and a top-tier RTX 2070. The router is a Linksys WRT1900AC, and your network is packed with devices like echo dots, smart bulbs, a wireless bridge, and a CCTV system. Even though the lag sometimes feels like a local network issue, it’s definitely affecting your experience. I know this sounds a bit vague, but I’m running out of ideas. Any suggestions or help would be super appreciated!

I recently purchased a Quest 2 and initially thought it would be great, but I'm still figuring out its function. I can access the desktop on my PC through the built-in viewer in Q2 when connected to Link. With Link versus Airlink, I also have an older AC router that sometimes works, other times it doesn't, so I've switched back to directly connecting my headset to the PC for a smoother experience. I don't have time to deal with Wi-Fi interference, particularly with my old router. It's about 7 years old. If I needed something newer with better Wi-Fi or AX support, I'd expect improved performance.

I get it, and I’m okay with spending a bit if it works. I just want to avoid spending a lot and not having the issue resolved. Since my brothers are using the same device on an all-in-one gateway from COX, I thought my router might handle it, but I’m not sure.

It's normal for a 7-year-old to have many Wi-Fi devices around. Not sure how you're using your wireless channel—maybe try switching it up. I just stuck with the wired connection; it works fine for me since I mostly sit down.

It seems like you're feeling a bit stuck and might need to simplify your approach. You're considering going with a wired setup but are hesitant due to costs.
