Hello everyone and welcome to the new year🎉
Recently I set up "Fallout 76" but it’s experiencing poor performance (30-60 FPS).
Details:
Hardware: Gigabyte H410M S2H V2, I3 10100f, 1x Geil Pristine 8GB DDR4-2400mhz CL17-17-17, PSU Cooler Master MWE 80plus 550W, GPU ROG STRIX Rx580 8GB OC, SSD Western Digital 120GB, HDD Seagate 1TB, resolution 1920x1080, Radeon in gaming mode, medium preset.
Playing on medium settings, when I have many objects the game uses fewer resources and maintains decent FPS.
But once I enter a building (main world, no server change), it performs well enough to reach acceptable FPS.
I reduced graphics settings but it didn’t significantly improve performance; my FPS stayed around 45 in crowded areas, sometimes dropping to 30 in very busy zones (based on object count).
Thermal throttling isn’t the problem either—I’ve already verified that.
No custom overclocking is active in BIOS.
It’s not a single-core bottleneck either; none of the CPU cores are hitting maximum usage.
Currently, only Discord and Microsoft Edge are running in the background.
Some friends suggested upgrading to an 8GB RAM stick, so I came here to confirm if that was the issue.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

your ram is already over 90%, which means the game is starting to use the page file on your ssd. Your friend is correct—adding more ram would be better, and it would help if you defrag the hdd too. Just make sure to vsync the game; 60fps is sufficient for stabilizing the gpu. Keep in mind you're running a large game at 1080p resolution, and having 8gigs of ram is already causing issues.
