Major decision regarding RAM.

After three months, I originally bought the CORSAIR VENGEANCE RGB PRO 32GB memory. I can still request a refund and buy the Viper Steel DDR4 16GB kit. It will only add £20. I’m considering swapping my current setup (2x16GB 3600 CL18) for 4x8GB 4000 CL16 units, which would cost an extra £20. The new specs are linked to a B550-F Gaming Wi-Fi 5600X. Thoughts?

Cl18 might be too expensive or unavailable, so consider 3600. DDR4 4000 could be tough to handle—go with 3600 and increase the RAM voltage to around 1.4 or 1.5 while reducing the timings.

I bought the C18 since there wasn’t any decent stock on Amazon a while back, and I don’t care about LEDs at all. Why would DDR4 4000 be an issue? I’m not very tech-savvy, so tweaking timings isn’t really my thing.

You can obtain the infinity fabric to reach a high clock speed that unlocks its advantages. However, it might not operate at that rapid pace. You could purchase it, test it, and maintain the setup that suits you best.

This 3600mhz cl16 setup works well with the 5600x or Zen 3, but increasing RAM speed might not always improve performance—it could even slow things down. This option is optional.

Imagine if the 4000 MHZ only operated at 3600, even though it would still be CL16 instead of CL18. Would that count as extra value worth £20 in your mind?

The effort and resources needed to bring back the old configuration would cancel out any minor improvements from a few CL adjustments. It doesn't really matter. Now, if you're confident in having 4000MHz RAM, it might be worthwhile... others often focus on showing off rather than actual performance.

With an AMD setup you get up to 15% faster performance, says gamers nexus. However, it costs more, while a 16GHz (2x8) core is sufficient for most tasks.
