I understand this might seem like a beginner-level issue, but I usually don’t use Mac computers. My teacher asked me to reset his homepage for Safari. I changed the homepage to go to google.com via Safari settings, but it didn’t work. The page still showed up as google.com. What should I do to fix this?

I'm starting to believe that changes to Safari settings might not work on a school computer. The article I found discusses similar problems and could offer guidance. Should I try the method described there?

Two extra options control the behavior of opening a new tab or window. Within the same window (General), you'll find Safari Opens With, New Tabs Open With, and New Windows Open with settings. Unless these are configured to your homepage, you might not notice them.

It is possible, though rare, to keep user preferences from being changed. It's unlikely that anywhere would block setting the homepage though as it poses no security concern. I say this as a Mac System Admin with experience in education.
