The setup will run a digital pipe organ that loads a massive 80+gb MIDI database into RAM, sending key presses instantly to an audio interface (MOTU Ultralite mk3). This triggers dozens of sound files to flow through the interface to multiple studio monitors, creating a rich, immersive sound. The CPU is the top priority—no GPU needed beyond two touch screens, which I’ll connect via USB. I’ve selected the 3900x after thorough research and it’s an affordable option at just $400. Key considerations for this build include: supporting 128GB RAM (four 32GB modules), higher memory speeds, precise timing control, compatibility with the 3900x, and a PCIe 4.0 slot—this is crucial since the organ requires loading large files quickly. I’m currently using a PCIe 3.0 M.2 slot on my x99/i7-5820K, which excels with fast RAM. LAN speed isn’t an issue as it’s only for updates. The power setup will be a budget-friendly ATX case with a 750W PSU and an affordable B550 motherboard to accommodate PCIe 4.0. I’m planning to add the cheapest graphics card available on Facebook Marketplace. That should cover everything... any questions or recommendations? Are there other users here who might have insights?
Looking for an AM4 (PGA 1331) motherboard with four DIMM slots? The X570 TUF or X570-P could fit. This relates to a motherboard, not the CPU. A DMI3 slot is needed for the CPU, but if you need a quality board supporting a 12-core processor like the B550 Pro 4, expect prices around $180. Even the B450 will work in that case.
