I am preparing to utilize an external HDD to generate a system partition image with Macrium Reflect. I need to confirm if the HDD will be formatted during this process. If not, then is it acceptable to employ the external HDD with the ISO file as usual, similar to how it's used for storing media and other data?

I perform a complete image capture followed by a sequence of incremental updates. This allows me to restore the system to any condition it experienced within the previous month.

Will the external HDD get formatted while the backup is happening? (This is your first time using Reflect, so I'm checking if you're okay with that.)

Macrium only saves one file to the target drive.
I manage all my systems and each drive separately, writing Images to a space on my NAS.
With multiple systems and over a dozen drives, everything is in one folder tree.
This setup could just as easily work with an external drive or two.
What backup options do you have at home?
What backup options do you have at home? And why not?
Every day I see people asking "How do I recover my data?" or "That drive had 5 years of photos of my kids!!"
Whether it's a dead drive, lost phone, virus, accidental deletion, or wrong formatting...

You need to decide whether to include all partitions when generating a backup.
