Mac OS9.1
Mac OS9.1
Welp. Here's an odd one. I recently bought a mac g3 to flip, but I first want to reset the system as it has a bunch of private stuff from the previous owner. Is there any way in the software that I can reset the system? Alternatively, how could I go about burning a boot CD and resetting it that way? Retro Mac tech is way over my 'paygrade'.
Mac OS 9 is essentially in the public domain now, obtain an ISO from that source. The G3 should support up to OS X 10.6, and the CD release of 10.3 is available.
Sure, you can burn it using a Windows computer and insert it into the g3 slot.
I think I'll start working on the old CD-Rs tomorrow. Just need to locate those boot floppies for my Macintosh SE...
Thanks again! A bit of online research might uncover some interesting patterns.
It turns out I misrepresented it. The platform marked it as System Software, even though it doesn't specify Mac OS, and all versions from 1.0 to 6.0 are included.
Perfect, even more so. It might be necessary to return my floppy drive to the case.
Reminder that the G3 iMac supports versions up to 10.4.11 only for the latest models. PPC Macs are limited to 10.5.8, making 10.6 impossible even for G5 Macs.
