I bought this Mac OS X installation DVD at a yard sale for no cost... Is it possible to build a Hackintosh with this drive? Thanks, jmess

I think you might be able to receive a complimentary "upgrade" from the Apple store. My friend had Lion and upgrade for free.

Sure. It might be better to connect with someone else and ask them to create a bootable USB. You really need a genuine Mac to build a Hackintosh, which makes this approach less effective. This discussion is likely to close soon, so look into the TonyMac forums for Hackintosh resources.

I'm familiar with TonyMac. I've checked the site a few times but haven't stayed long. My friend owns a genuine Lion OS version. They used to have an old MacBook.

They can create a video about it, but they’re not permitted to talk about it in the forum. That’s unexpected for them.

I expected someone to respond in that way. They’re free to act however they like on their forum. What mattered more was understanding the reasoning behind it, but thank you for sharing your thoughts—I wasn’t upset about the rules, just really interested in why this happened.
