Imagine removing the hard drive from a real Mac, like a Mac Pro, and placing it in another device. You decide to start up from that drive. It might run the original Mac OS, allowing you to copy the entire drive for additional purposes!

It won't function properly. OS X checks the system environment before starting; mismatched IDs prevent booting altogether. Plus, there are several other problems to address.
