Hey, I'm planning to get a new 500GB SSD but want to make sure it works. Also, I'm considering the Samsung 980 PRO and my AMD Ryzen 5 3600.

A 980 Pro should work, but I’d opt for a 970 EVO or another Gen 3 drive instead.

The 980 Pro is available at a reduced price, differing from the 970 Evo by $20. Is it possible to achieve speeds of the 980 Pro using your motherboard?

I'll retrieve the EVO, and there should be no noticeable impact on performance.

Initially, these are the highest possible speeds they offer, which won't influence boot time or game load times. Even a sata ssd will be roughly the same in performance. Your setup is limited to Gen 3 x4 speeds, around 3400mB/s, so it will operate similarly here because of your hardware.

B450 is limited to PCIe 3.0, which caps drive speeds at 3500Mbps. A 980 Pro can be used since PCIe supports older versions, though performance will be reduced to about half the rated rate.

Yes, sequential and random 4K speeds will be noticeably slower, yet they offer an advantage compared to SATA. Random 4K speeds will still be slower than sequential 4K.

Sometimes random issues might affect SATA SSDs slightly, but the impact on performance is minimal. Load times and boot times usually stay within a second or two.
