M.2 Space (Assistance)
Hey everyone! I’m planning to purchase a 250GB M.2 SSD from Kingston KC2000 for my boot drive and app storage. The product listing mentions “out-of-box performance” on a PCIe 3.0 motherboard. I’m unsure if my M.2 slot supports PCIe version 3.0 since it’s not specified in the manual—only that PCIe x16 is present, mainly for the GPU. I’m worried this might limit the SSD’s potential. How can I confirm if I’ll get the best performance? My motherboard model is GIGABYTE GA-Z97-D3H.
The Gigabyte website mentions that their 9 series motherboards include an integrated M.2 port, enabling PCI-Express connections for SSDs. This technology supports data transfers up to 10 Gb/s, offering significantly quicker performance compared to older mSATA and SATA Revision 3 (6Gb/s) drives.
