I saw a discussion on a forum about using an M.2 drive in your ASUS Crosshair Vii Hero. It seems someone mentioned losing a SATA port if you connect an M.2 slot, but I’m not sure. I have six SATA ports and plan to use one for storage while keeping the M.2 slot for the operating system. The M.2 is likely NVMe-based.

Your M.2 NVMe drive shouldn't block any SATA connections.

It seems the SATA M.2 might interfere with the SATA port, while NVMe works fine. Check if the M.2 is compatible with your system and whether any drivers are outdated.

It seems uncertain, but the reason likely lies in the identical interface while the connection method changes. NVMe operates differently from the standard setup.
