Hi, I faced a similar issue with my PCIE 4.0 M.2 slot not working. After moving the SSD to a Gen 3.0 slot and then purchasing a new one, the Gen 4.0 slot still isn’t functioning properly. I’m unsure what to do next.

Comet Lake (10th gen) likely uses a CPU with PCIe 3.0 support. These chips don’t have the dedicated four lanes found in Ryzen and 11th gen models for the top M.2 slot.

You can try enabling the first M.2 slot for Gen 3.0 SSDs by adjusting BIOS settings or using a compatible firmware update. Check your motherboard documentation for specific steps to unlock the slot.

As mentioned, the 10th generation model doesn't have the PCIe lanes required, as they're permanently connected to the CPU socket.

Consider swapping them for a SATA SSD.
