Hey there! I received this MSI gaming M.2 Z270 board with two M.2 slots. When I inserted my SSD into the top port, it didn’t appear in the BIOS. But when I connected it to the second slot—which has a turbo M.2 adapter—it worked perfectly. I’m stuck with just one SSD now. I’m using a 970 Evo Plus 1TB NVMe and a 970 Evo 500GB NVMe, both functioning fine in the working port. Let me know if I missed something. Thanks! Timo van den Berg
Check the connector slot for any issues such as bent, burnt, or missing pins. Also, verify if other devices are connected via SATA ports and consult the manual to ensure proper configuration before connecting an M.2 drive.
Do you have PCI_E4 active? Populating PCI_E4 with an NVMe SSD while M2_1 is filled will prevent M2_2 from working. Refer to the table on page 32 of your manual at https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/...#down-bios for details.
I confirmed the manual specified no PCIe 4 slots, and I tested only the NVMe connection so nothing appeared on the SATA ports. The only available slot is PCIe 6, which supports a powered USB 3.0 card for the Oculus Rift. I’ll inspect the pins later and will follow up with an update. Thanks for your assistance!
