Low latency in high performance RAM
Low latency in high performance RAM
I tested my RAM and found the latency to be high at 59. Anyone have ideas on how to fix this? My system uses Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB with a 3600MHz clock speed.
What processor are you using? The Aida64 performance figures you're seeing vary a lot depending on the CPU you have—Rocket Lake chips will show much lower latency than Alder Lake or Ryzen models. If you're running XMP profiles on devices like the 12600K or R5 3600, the 59ns value fits what you'd expect. However, with higher-end CPUs such as the 10700K or 7600K, you'd likely see around 30ns or less for this configuration. This difference is due to variations in both CPU architecture and memory system setups between Rocket Lake, DDR4, and newer platforms. Also, many RAM latency tests focus on core-to-core communication rather than the full memory controller path, so results can differ noticeably based on your operating system and background processes. If you're aiming for 10ns or 8.89ns like theoretical values, those won't be achievable under typical usage conditions.
The 59ns figure fits well for a chip intended for Aida, especially given the inherent delays from the chiplet architecture. It's slightly above what I'd normally anticipate—just a few nanoseconds extra—which might be due to Aida64's irregular behavior or background Windows updates.
