Low Gaming Performance
Low Gaming Performance
My laptop is an Acer Nitro 5. Since getting it, my gaming experience hasn't been ideal. Here are the issues I'm facing.
- My GPU usage is only around 20%, and the integrated graphics are also active?
- On Msi afterburner, I can't adjust the temperature or power limits?
- In Minecraft, I expect over 300 FPS but only see 90?
- My GTX 1650 isn't running at full capacity.
Performance isn't what I expected.
(I've updated all my drivers and switched to high performance in the power plan, using Nvidia Control panel.)
Acer Nitro 5 Specifications:
I5-10300H
GTX 1650
8 GB RAM DDR4
The RAM available isn't just sufficient for the game in question; using a single channel instead of dual won't significantly impact performance. It's also puzzling that he didn't respond to questions about malware checks, third-party software issues, temperature monitoring, or stability concerns. As is common with new users, the issue seems to stem from problems between the PC and the chair.
Are you testing with the device connected as well when using a high-performance plan? I think because you switched the power plan, you probably assume laptops are set to battery-saving mode by default. This can cause them to perform poorly during gaming due to processor throttling that limits speed to save battery. Also, laptop GPUs are typically clocked at lower speeds compared to desktop models. It’s not advisable to adjust temperature or power settings if you want higher performance. In fact, a common adjustment for laptops today is slightly reducing the GPU voltage, which can improve stability without boosting FPS. This change helps reduce extreme frame drops and makes gameplay feel smoother. Such tweaks are often applied in factory settings on certain models labeled "MaxQ." Proper cooling, such as using a laptop cooler, is also important. Just to be sure, have you checked for malware or third-party software conflicts that might be affecting performance?
Similar to other people's performances, I notice someone else's work and when I use the same machine as them, I don't get the same results. For example, in Minecraft they achieve 300 FPS while on my machine it's around 50.
