Low frames on high end pc.
I used to get 250+ frames on R6s but now i'm getting 40. I have a GE72VR Apache Pro laptop my specs are GTX 1060 and a intel core I7-7700 4 core 2.80 ghz and 6 gb of ram. I already updated my gtx driver to 4.31 game ready driver, and I already tried messing with the settings. someone please help
UPDATE:I learned that it's not only R6s but its legit every game I play i only get 40 frames even the simplest ones.
Here’s the rewritten text:
The primary challenge with using a high-performance GPU like the 1060 in a laptop is heat management. Laptops are enclosed spaces, making it difficult for heat to dissipate effectively, which can significantly impact performance. To address this, NVIDIA developed the Max-Q technology – a lower-voltage and clocked version of the standard 1060 designed specifically for laptops. This approach aims to keep temperatures under control while maintaining reasonable performance levels.
Many users attempt to emulate the Max-Q effect by adjusting GPU voltage and clock speeds through software modifications. While this can lead to cooler operation and improved stability, it’s a delicate balancing act. Adding an external laptop cooling solution is often recommended to further mitigate heat buildup and enhance performance.
If you own a 1060 in a laptop, determining whether it's running in Max-Q mode and monitoring its temperature are crucial steps. Understanding these factors can help you optimize your system for cooler operation and improved performance.
My standby temperature is around 55-60 Celsius when i'm playing a game like Rainbow my GPU is 83 and my CPU is 90 Celsius. No my 1060 is not a Max-Q. I don't really want to mess with my computer that much, what do you think I can do because my PC is already 2 years old last month.
Also do you think I could be anything else? Because when I change the settings from ultra to like medium it will still stay at 40 fps.
The MSI GE72VR Apache Pro 010 gaming laptop consistently reaches 83°C, indicating a throttling effect – the maximum temperature for this model. This is considered the “throttle ceiling” for new Nvidia models and significantly higher than ideal idle temperatures of 55-60°C. Dust buildup within the laptop or in the surrounding environment can exacerbate this issue. A laptop cooler pad ($20-$30) with fans positioned near intake vents could improve heat dissipation and reduce top surface temperature during intense gaming. Ambient temperature plays a role; hot climates without air conditioning can contribute to higher temperatures. The entire bottom surface of the GE72VR is removable for cleaning, requiring a plastic pry tool (available online for around $10). Havit offers well-reviewed cooling pads with 3 or 5 fans ($25) that effectively manage heat by directing airflow toward intake vents.
Here’s a revised version of the text, focusing on clarity and conciseness:
Maintaining optimal performance for electronic devices like laptops often requires addressing environmental factors. Excessive heat from prolonged use can be mitigated by improving ventilation in the surrounding room. Simple adjustments such as using window shades or opening windows (when appropriate) can significantly reduce heat buildup. Furthermore, regular cleaning of the device’s environment—dusting and vacuuming—can help prevent build-up that could affect performance. Prioritizing airflow and a clean workspace will contribute to better operation and potentially reduce the need for costly maintenance.
I posted a forum about this before and the solution was to dust my pc, well I did that and my computer isn't any better the cooling works perfectly fine and my frames on all games is still capped at 40 fps when I use to get around 250+ frames. I don't understand why my frames are this low can someone please help thanks.
My specs:
GTX 1060
Intel Core 17-7700 2.8 Ghz
8 gb of ram
