In 2017, this was a very competitive time, so three years later the CPU designs are nearly double in gaming performance according to you? Another thought: wouldn't it make sense to wait now? Since Zen 4 should come out soon—possibly with Zen 3+ CPUs—or at least the latest models. If so, consider getting a 5800X or 5900X, which will likely need a motherboard and CPU upgrade. Also, it seems AMD performs better with more RAM sticks, so setting up quad channel memory might be necessary anyway.
