I own an Alienware Aurora R7 with a GTX 1080, i7-8700k, and 16GB RAM. While playing Cyberpunk, my performance is around 35-40 on the lowest settings. My friend reported getting 60+ on medium/high even with a less powerful system. I've attempted to adjust GPU and CPU memory settings using CSV files as suggested in many guides, but it hasn't improved things much. This issue also occurs with other games, though I can play GTA V smoothly at high settings.

I wouldn't claim anything incorrect. The PSU isn't sufficient for the GPU it's handling. The 1080 needs a 550w, 30 amp total system power minimum. Still, I'm unsure if that GPU was included with the setup or if you upgraded it yourself, but when upgrading a GPU, it's essential to verify you have enough power first.

I also own an 8700k, 1080 (EVGA SC), and 16GB RAM. On the High preset, I achieve 55-60 FPS, even though I've only played a couple of missions in CP 2077. Still, the GOG version seems to offer better performance, though it doesn’t make that much of a difference. Regarding your rig, is the case space enough and properly ventilated? Have you been keeping an eye on temperatures? How long have you had the system, and have you cleaned out any dust if it’s been more than six months? Also, what power supply unit was installed in the setup?

Software-related queries: Are there other games or programs that are running poorly? Have you performed any malware or SFC scans? What game version are you using—1.04 is the most recent I’ve seen? Are there any third-party applications that could be causing conflicts?

I thoroughly cleaned everything and restarted the system. It seems to have good airflow; it's a prebuilt unit, so I'm not entirely certain. I checked online and think I have a 450w power supply. There are no signs of malware or third-party software issues.

Hi Brady, everything looks fine with your setup. The real issue seems to be cyberpunk, even though I don’t own the game. I’ve seen many discussions on this forum and other places like Steam Client. The two main problems are that the CPU keeps running at full capacity all the time and there are frequent, sudden drops in FPS.

I wouldn't claim anything incorrect. The PSU isn't strong enough for the GPU it's handling. The 1080 needs a 550w, 30 amp total system power minimum. I'm not sure if that GPU was included with the setup or if you upgraded it, but when upgrading a GPU, rule one is always to ensure sufficient power first.

Regarding the game, I haven't encountered any issues on similar specs with higher settings. Last night I spent a lot of time on The Pickup mission and a few missions afterward, and everything ran smoothly. The only issue was that the gamma was too dim, and increasing it made it even darker after a point. I set it to 1.30 but still had to raise my display brightness from 50 to 65.

There are definitely some bugs, and I expected better from CDPR, particularly with basic settings like gamma. But in terms of performance, I haven't noticed much trouble yet.

OP, again, are you keeping an eye on temperatures? Also, do you have a more powerful PSU available or can you borrow one to test with enough power for your GPU?

What resolution is it? Is it the same as your friends?
