Low Frame Rate, Yet Unsmooth Performance
Low Frame Rate, Yet Unsmooth Performance
I am unable to perform a clean installation of a new driver; I can only apply updates. Utilizing Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) in secure mode doesn't trigger detection, and if I prevent Windows from automatically updating drivers, NVIDIA fails to recognize the graphics driver. Is there a solution?
I recently discovered that gameplay recordings made with OBS appear superior to what’s displayed on my screen directly. I'm unable to upload videos for demonstration, but if you could provide a platform where I could share them and perhaps clarify the issue, it would be greatly appreciated. I tested with multiple monitors (approximately four to five) and believe it’s unlikely to be a problem with the display itself.
EDIT: It’s likely due to the rendering process at 60 frames per second, which doesn't capture all of the fine details and eliminates the tearing and stuttering that I observe when recording at 240fps.
While I cannot vouch for its precision, I observed a recent review suggesting that when using monitors with adjustable refresh rates, it’s advisable to limit frame rates a few frames below the maximum value to prevent overshooting and unnecessary switching of the variable refresh rate feature. Experimenting with a top setting of 235 may be beneficial.
I recently performed a clean installation and obtained my driver after disabling Windows Update. I then conducted a benchmark, which displayed 240Hz in one corner and 360 frames per second, appearing fluid. However, shortly afterward, when launching Fortnite to test the performance, the game was laggy and stuttering as expected. I exited the game and returned to the desktop to rerun the benchmark; the FPS registered at 260 and 360, while the refresh rate showed only 60Hz in that same corner despite my Windows and NVIDIA settings both indicating a 240Hz refresh rate. What might be responsible for this issue?
Apologies for my tardiness, however, if you possess a gaming mouse, please attempt to lower its scan rate.
