low fps on gta v
Hey, I attempted to run GTA V on my laptop, a Dell 7577.
Specs: I7 7700HQ, NVIDIA GTX 1060 with 6GB max memory, 24GB RAM, installed on a 256GB SSD NVME.
GPU drivers were updated and a new Windows version was set up.
I see around 20-30 frames per second at normal settings (1080p) and 30-40 at 720p.
What might be affecting this? And how can I improve it?
tnx.
Are you keeping your drivers current via the GeForce Experience program? Is your Windows updated? What does the heat look like from the device, and are the fans running? If you use GeForce Experience, try selecting the suggested settings for GTA V in the program and then launching the game through that application. Let me know if this resolves the issue.
Hm. Try downloading some software that tells you the temperatures of your laptop and or look at how fast your gpu/cpu are running. It could be thermal throttling because it doesn't want to get too hot. Most common issue with laptops.
Also, see what's installed on your computer and what is running. Bloatware or other programs can be running in the background and taking up processing power. Open task manager and see what's taking up the most percentages at idle and when the game is running. If something is taking too much either stop the process or uninstall it. Most programs doing that in the background aren't with it in the first place and you could probably find other programs to replace them that are better.
