Hi everyone, new to TH and just created an account because I need some assistance. I haven’t encountered any issues like mine, so I thought I’d ask for help. I’ve recently installed Windows 10 and a GTX 1080 graphics card. After every restart or so, my CPU usage stays below 20%. It’s fixable by restarting, but it forces me to run demanding programs like Total War: Warhammer just to see my PC slow down. Even older games such as Dishonored take a long time to load because my CPU remains at 20%. I’ve used Intel Extreme Tuning Utility to test the load, and under a stress test my CPU can reach 100% without issues. Please help!

Specs:
Intel i5 4670K OC'd to 4.3
Nvidia GTX 1080
Maximus VI Gene mobo
16GB DDR3
Win 10

It seems you're likely experiencing an issue. I don't recommend overclocking software. Try uninstalling the utility, restarting normally, then restarting into BIOS to adjust settings.

I'm not sure if it was accidentally installed. Is there a way to verify this? If it's useful, I didn't install Windows 10 until a few days before the free offer ended in late July. I believe it was on Saturday, the 23rd of July, and I updated from Windows 7.

It seems the system probably set it up automatically yesterday.

The processor is boosted, and I manage the tuning with Intel XTU.

I updated my bios after realizing I was missing the latest version and then used them to overclock. It seems to have resolved the problem, but we'll see in the future. Thanks for the assistance, I'll let you know if it happens again.
