I encountered an issue with my PC and wanted to check if this is typical. I have a loose cable—probably a 20-pin connector linking the power supply to the motherboard. If I shift it slightly while the computer runs, it shuts down completely and can't restart properly if I move the cable back into place. Additionally, I notice a noticeable drop in frame rate or stuttering when using the PC for extended periods, usually around an hour or two. This happens even without playing games. I've had this problem for about a year and a half. I've tried basic troubleshooting and inspected some components, but since I'm not an expert, I only checked the parts that are easy to remove. My system specs include a Ryzen 5 3600, Arctic Freezer 34, ESports duo CPU fan, Kingstone HyperX Fury 3600, DDR4 RAM (with two extra modules), and a Galax RTX 2060, OC MSI Tomahawk Max, Corsair RM650 80 Plus Gold power supply.
Ensure you have the correct cable for your specific PSU; otherwise, it's not KABLOOM.
I understand this situation, so I'll attempt to contact Corsair if possible and plan to replace all cables for safety.
I also missed asking about this. My computer sometimes restarts or shuts down even though everything inside seems fine. What does this mean and how can I fix it?
Consider reinstalling your graphics drivers via ddu. Also, perform a CMOS reset and BIOS update. These seem to be the likely causes, possibly related to power issues.
