Looking to replace your current motherboard? Upgrading your GPU is a great next step.
Hello everyone, I'm planning to upgrade my graphics card from a GTX 1050 Ti to either a GTX 1650 Super or a GTX 1660 Super. I'm also checking my motherboard since I don't have the exact model. I bought a Dell XPS 8500 pre-built in 2012. Should I get a new motherboard to get the most out of the new GPU?
You don’t need a new motherboard. The card will function just fine in the one you have. Your worries should focus on power delivery and CPU limitations. Ensure you use a power supply with a 6 or 8-pin PCE-E connector. Also, the 3770 CPU is quite old, which could limit performance to around 1660 MHz.
