I need assistance choosing a motherboard for your Ryzen 9800X3D. You're looking for something future-proof, so an ASUS ROG Strix B650E-F is a good starting point. Consider DDR5 memory with speeds above 6000 MHz and PCIe 5.0 support for M.2 drives and GPUs. If you have a better option in mind or need more details, let me know! Thanks for reaching out.

I'm an Intel enthusiast, but I wanted to welcome you to the forums. My advice would be to check out the CES trade show and stay alert for upcoming motherboard announcements before making your choice.

The ASUS TUF Gaming X670E-PLUS offers more features than the board you referred to. It includes an additional M.2 slot, four USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, and several extra components. I found it on Amazon for $229, which is cheaper than the $239 you mentioned.

basically all boards follow similar patterns, right? you're referring to the >8400 range? that suggests you're looking for a 2DIMM setup like the B650M HDV or X670E, which are currently top choices for AM5 PCIe Gen4 M.2 SSDs. These models remain useful for most users, while Gen5 is likely unnecessary soon and Gen6 could bring exciting upgrades. For content creation or high-res editing, Gen4 still holds value, but Gen5 might not be worth it unless you're storing massive amounts of data. If you're focused on gaming, Gen5 x16 slots probably won't matter much, as they'll likely be replaced by more powerful cards like the 4090. For casual play, it's mostly a waste of money. AM5 would probably be obsolete before GPUs hit their limits, and most people won't buy overpriced options above $150 unless they need top-tier performance. Most folks stick with SSDs under $9000 for better value.
