Hello, I hope you understand I’m seeking some advice on a new laptop. I haven’t been keeping up with the latest trends for quite some time, so my knowledge is limited.
My budget is around 1400 EUR.
I would really appreciate if it had a larger screen size—something like 17 inches.
If they still offer laptops with older SSD drives (not M.2), that would be ideal, although having an M.2 slot would be a big plus for me.
It should mainly be used for watching movies, doing some light tasks, and occasionally gaming.
Thanks in advance to everyone.

What kind of games are you into? MMOs, single-player RPGs, or fast-paced first-person shooters? Are you more interested in FPS performance or visual quality?
I could probably find a laptop with a hard drive that you could replace with an SATA SSD, though most will have M.2 options and maybe space for another one.
Euros are appealing, but knowing the specific country makes a big difference in choosing something. Prices differ by region.

An intriguing setup for lighter gaming from Germany. No operating system included unless you prefer, which is great—just install Windows 11 on a USB stick and it’ll be set up in under twenty minutes, with only drivers needed.
https://www.amazon.de/-/en/GIBEYTE-A7-Ge...B0B6HKKKHP
In your budget range, models like the Ryzen 5800H paired with an RTX3060 are typical. The i5-12500H is also common. 16GB RAM with 1TB or 512GB NVMe SSDs work well. A 17-inch display at 144Hz and 1080p offers solid mid-range gaming performance.
New mobile GPUs from Nvidia are approaching, with the 4050 and 4060 expected in early February. This could push prices down for 30-series GPUs.

Several recent laptops have abandoned memory sockets, making it difficult to upgrade further. Models like the Lenovo P Series Thinkpad, Dell XPS 17, and Dell Precision might still meet your needs, though their cost may affect your budget.

When considering a purchase for 1400 EUR, there are numerous choices such as the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G17, Acer Predator Helios 3001, and MSI GE75 Raider. These devices should manage movie playback, light tasks, and basic gaming. Each model features a 17.3-inch display.

In my opinion, gaming laptops don't work well. I strongly avoid Dell, as they handle graphics driver updates poorly and require their proprietary drivers instead of using open ones from Nvidia or AMD. I've used Asus, Acer, and Lenovo models without any issues. My current choice is the Lenovo Legion.

Hey, mostly strategy games, maybe some FPS, simulators and so on
I would still prefer any performance over the visual quality. The specific country would be Slovenia.
This one looks very interesting and even under the price. You think I could get any upgrade with the extra 200 eur or so?
Or should I wait for the launch of the new series and then see whats on the market?
Hey, thanks for the comment. Looked at the XPS one just before
I really like the ROG series from the ASUS so I cant really go wrong with the G17 one right?
Hey, thank you for the comment. With which brand did you have the best experience so far if I may ask?

All three have been kind to me. The Asus was an older 2nd generation i5, but it eventually stopped working last year. My wife uses the Acer Predator now—it's a 7th generation i7 with a GTX 1060. My current Lenovo Legion has been with me for about three years; I'm currently using a 9th generation i7 and an 1660ti. The Lenovo model is definitely my favorite.
