Wireless solutions are straightforward. Many manufacturers produce unlicensed frequency devices. I've observed a WISP running on 2.4GHz across an area roughly 80 square miles.

Examine Ubiquiti equipment... This will provide you with optimal pricing for your towers and CPE devices. Superior compared to standard consumer products not designed for this application. My setup includes three towers (serving a ski resort area with challenging terrain due to mountains) each equipped with three PrismStation AC units. On the CPE side, a RocketDish AC for WAN connectivity and an AirCube on the LAN side. Thankfully, the recent UNMS release by UBNT simplifies remote management, especially for CPE functions, which should aid customer support.

I completed my initial idea of creating a WISP, though some clients still favor wired connections. To draw in more customers, I had to offer additional bonus features, which led me to develop my own server.

If you're in a region dominated by major cable providers, be ready for intense legal challenges. These firms invest heavily each year to hinder smaller startups and municipal ISPs. Unless your paperwork is complete and contracts are secured, you're likely facing significant obstacles. When Comcast is the primary local provider, the situation becomes even more challenging.

It will be simpler to handle WISP, and when executed properly you can deliver fast, low-latency links comparable to wired options.
