Looking to boost memory on an Asus X470 Prime Pro?
Hello everyone, I’m currently using a G.skill flare X 2x8GB kit running at 3200MHz (https://www.pccasegear.com/products/3894...-cl14-ddr4). It’s been working well since I first had the 1600X processors, though there were some early hiccups when the 3000 arrived that needed a few BIOS updates. I’m thinking about upgrading to 32GB and have a few questions: Does it make more sense to reach the 3200MHz target with a two-pack setup, or would having four sticks matter more? Also, I don’t think I can buy another flare X kit because I already have the CL14, and the newer models are CL16—so mixing them up isn’t clear. I’d prefer to stick with the DOCP option and avoid manual tweaks. I’m considering two options from Centrecom and PCCaseGear: one 32GB kit at https://www.centrecom.com.au/gskill-trid...-16gb-ddr4 and another at https://www.centrecom.com.au/gskill-trid...ing-memory. If anyone has better advice, I’d really appreciate it. My usual places to shop are Centrecom and PCCaseGear.
Sorry for the delayed response, I've been feeling unwell. Unfortunately, the PC stores near me are the only two I can rely on right now. If I had to choose, I'd go with MSY in the city, but the one nearby doesn't have a great reputation. I wouldn't want a 3600 MHz. A 3200 is acceptable. [Link] This appears to be a solid offer for its price, featuring 2x16GB and DDR4 3600MHz. Trident Neo seems tailored for Ryzen 3000 processors, similar to how the FlareX was designed for the first generation. It would have been great if they had it in stock. Casegear lists it for about $6 more, but delivery costs aren't included, so I'd need to wait for availability.
