I've used the xclaim AP for quite some time now and am generally satisfied. However, it's time for an upgrade. I'm looking for a solution that allows me to add more APs to create a mesh network later on. It should support PoE and Wi-Fi 6 without needing a costly enterprise setup. I'd like to stay simple with just PoE APs, but if a device with a built-in router is necessary, I'm okay with it—just don't rely on it too much.

If you're not eager for WiFi 6e, consider the Ubiquiti UniFi 6 Lite AP.

Not fully impressed by these details: it claims Gigabit Ethernet on the 2.4 GHz band with 2x2 MIMO and a 300 Mbps rate—seems like WiFi 4 in the 5 GHz range with MU-MIMO and OFDMA at 1.2 Gbps. The nanoHD offers 1.6 Gbps on WiFi 5 using 4x4 MU-MIMO, but real-world speeds rarely exceed 800 Mbps, dropping to about 700 Mbps after updates. It doesn’t support WiFi 6 on the 2.4 GHz band, which would be a big upgrade, making it only halfway to a top-tier AP. For the price, it’s a solid middle-ground option, though it feels like a basic WiFi 6 model.
