I recently purchased a Valve Index through Steam and was looking for VR game suggestions. Half-Life: Alyx is something I’m definitely interested in since it comes bundled with the Index. For other VR titles I’d like to try, I’m thinking Beat Saber, Super Hot VR, Gorn, and possibly Surgeon Sim VR.

Beatsaber and Super Hot VR are solid options. I also liked Moss a lot. Lone Echo works well too, though it’s exclusive to Oculus—you can try it via SteamVR, but you’d need to purchase it from the Oculus store since it isn’t available on Steam.

I really enjoyed playing Fallout 4 with mods added. It introduced more enemies, making the monsters much less intimidating compared to Alyx’s face huggers. I wouldn’t suggest it to anyone lacking a strong processor—anything under 5GHz Intel would struggle during intense moments. The game runs extremely hard to keep up, which feels like enduring a nightmare. It keeps getting better and is always entertaining.

I own the Fortnite mod but don’t feel it’s worth spending $60 just to play it in VR. For CPUs, my main machine has a Ryzen 7 5800X, which should easily manage most games I run.

I could possibly browse the Oculus shop, as it seems they have more VR titles there than on Steam. I noticed a person on YouTube talking about a tool that lets you run Oculus games using Valve’s VR platform.

I purchased it during a Steam discount for $23. I also bought Skyrim for the same price. I don’t suggest Skyrim because I mainly enjoy playing as a mage, and I find the archery and sword mechanics unappealing.

For titles with an intense campaign, consider these options: Star Wars Squadrons, Walking Dead Saints & Sinners, Moss, Boneworks, Paper Beast, and Serious Sam 3 (the full SS VR collection). Make sure your VR setup is ready beforehand. These games often feature floating weapons—though I usually dislike that style—but the Serious Sam fusion lets you use mods, adding some flexibility despite the glitches. - No Man's Sky is demanding to run smoothly; I adjusted my settings on a 3080 to enjoy it, especially in multiplayer. - No Man's Sky offers a unique experience: explore alien worlds, pilot your ship, and land on stations without loading pauses. The early sessions can be tough, but it improves over time. - Skyrim VR shines if you customize it well; the freedom to roam planets, dock, and fly is impressive. - The Room: A Dark Matter and LA Noire The VR Case Files are challenging due to poor controls, though I enjoyed them personally. Missing the full LA Noire version is a slight downside. - For quick, engaging sessions, try: Arizona Sunshine (best in co-op), Freediver: Triton Down, Lone Echo (with Revive), Alien Isolation (with Mother VR). These deliver great fun in short bursts. - For longer play, consider: The Pixel Ripped games, Lone Echo (Revive), and Alien Isolation (Mother VR). - If you want a workout, opt for Beat Saber, Box VR (my go-to for fitness), Space Pirate Trainer, or Thrill of the Fight. I also use this as my main exercise app.

I also suggest Horseshoes, Hotdogs & Hand Grenades—the top gun simulation available.
