Looking for the best paid or free software to run? Here are some great options for you.
I run around installing stuff on my computer. First, I turn off One Drive. Then, I hit Ninite to add all the programs I need at once, like Chrome, VLC, and 7 Zip. I use CoreTemp because it's great for Ryzen CPUs. I also have MSI Afterburner and Riva running. I use Samsung Magician to manage my screen. For security, I switched from Defender (Windows Security) to Microsoft Defender since I think the other one is better now. I used Symantec in the past but stopped using it for some reason later on. I love editing videos with DaVinci Resolve, though I'm not very good at that stuff yet. One of our favorite free programs is PDF Escape, and sometimes Adobe isn't perfect so we use PDF Escape as a backup when needed.
A bit old-school but totally awesome about a similar topic. New Install Basic Load Greetings, like most of you, I am the tech support or the "geek living at home" for my family, neighbors, and coworkers. Because of that, I often build or fix things up for people. When I set up a brand new system, I install several apps to help users in their future computing tasks. Here are some free tools for text editing and code management:
1. **Sublime Text**: You can use it on both Windows and Macs (though there is also a version for Linux). It's really good at making pretty-looking documents.
2. **Sublime Merge**: This one works great with all three systems: Windows, Macs, and Linux.
3. **Macrium Reflect**: If you only want to buy the paid versions of this program, it helps a lot with backups for your files.
4. **Free Git**: You can also check out the free version of Git, which is really useful if you work with code or need to save changes often.
You can use Audacity to cut and edit MP3 files, play them in a classic media player like VLC or Winamp, and watch movies on your home cinema setup.
I do stock installations. My first step is to delete or disable One Drive. Next, I use Ninite to add all the basic programs I need in one click, like Chrome, VLC, and 7z. I love CoreTemp because it works well with my Ryzen computers. I also use MSI Afterburner and Riva. I use Samsung Magician. I've switched to Microsoft Defender as my antivirus instead of relying on much more expensive software. I used Symantec for years but stopped using it recently for various reasons. I like DaVinci Resolve for video editing, though I find myself not being very good at it yet. One big piece of free software we use is PDF Escape. I also use Adobe, but sometimes they edit things incorrectly, so I keep PDF Escape as a backup and it works great. We pay for Dropbox and Quickbooks because we need them for work. The same goes for Adobe. I have started using LibreOffice or Open Office instead of Microsoft Office products because the licensing rules got weird and required subscriptions now. In the future, I probably will use Ubuntu with freeware as a replacement for Windows 10 on those older but still useful machines.
