In seven months or sooner, I plan to refresh my PC. It currently has an i5 2400 and a GTX 1050. I’m unsure whether to switch to a Ryzen 5 3600 or an i5 9400F. Either choice means replacing the PSU, motherboard, and possibly RAM. Or I could go with an i7 3770 without changing RAM or the board, and upgrade the GPU to something like an RX 580 or an 1060. What’s the best option?
It’s better to remain on your existing system and enhance your CPU and GPU. This will provide improved performance without additional costs.
Your budget influences what you'd consider a great setup. Without knowing it, an AMD 3600 seems like a solid choice, but we're still figuring things out. If I were purchasing a new graphics card, I'd opt for the most expensive option within my means—currently an Nvidia card.
my budget is around 300$, maybe I can stretch a bit more but let me know what you think. should i opt for a new CPU like Ryzen 5 3600/i5 9400F, or should i upgrade to a new GPU such as GTX 1660 (and trade in my old GTX 1050) plus an I7 3770? i won’t change the RAM or motherboard, just the GPU.
