Hello, your i7 2600K with a 3.4GHz clock is quite outdated, but I understand you're looking for overclocking advice. Your temperatures during turbo boost to 4.2GHz are quite high—80-90°C—which suggests the current settings might be pushing the CPU too hard. If you're open to exploring guides, there are some resources that discuss safe and effective overclocking strategies for older CPUs. As for your second question, yes, there are still many I7 2600K enthusiasts around who share tips and experiences online.

There definitely are, my server uses a CPU from that generation, look into getting a better air cooler then you can oc higher and better performance.

i am actually on a 2600K right now so yeah, we do exist But if you are already at 80-90°C there isn't any more space for Overclocking.

A budget-friendly cooling solution can make a big difference. My younger sibling is running a 2600kHz at 4.4GHz on a Hyper 212 Plus for years now.

Right now I'm playing at 50-60 °C without OC and still getting only 3.4ghz.

The cooler you're considering has big differences in quality. It's likely a mediocre choice, even if it's decent. If you return it and mention it's faulty, that might help. For a solid option under $40 that still performs well, the Sycthe Mugen 5 is definitely worth checking out.

It did lower your CPU temperature by about 20-30°C, but it still feels quite poor when compared to a better cooler. Yes, a solid stock cooler could bring the temperature down to around 5-60°C.

Consider updating your BIOS if you haven’t since 2012-2013. Your ASRock Z77 Extreme motherboard might benefit from the latest settings.

If you push the sycthe mugen 5 to its limits, temperatures will exceed 70°C but your clock speed will remain high—this is expected. As long as you stay below 100°C, it’s perfectly okay. I don’t suggest the cm hyper 212 (whatever version they have now) because better coolers are available for similar prices today.
