I’ll remember that point. It seems I have a router I can return, so I can use it myself—otherwise I’ll look for alternatives. Thanks for the guidance and your response! But curious enough, why can’t I purchase a modem? Are ISPs improving in this area or is my setup already complete? Or is it simply not available because it’s still new?

Since fiber doesn’t rely on a modem, it employs an optical converter that operates under various names. These terms haven’t reached the consumer side yet. I don’t think they’ll appear soon because fiber standards remain somewhat unclear. Consequently, with fiber you can’t swap out the ISP hardware unless your provider uses a specific device. The exception is the router, but only if your ISP doesn’t use any combined equipment.
