Hello there, fellow tech aficionados! I’m reaching out today hoping to tap into your expert knowledge and advice on a project that’s been on my mind. I’m eager to share my journey with the Ryzen 7950X3D and gather your thoughts on how to optimize it. Here’s the rundown: I’ve configured a stable curve optimizer at -15 across all cores—this held for about nine hours with the core cycler running, though I admit I didn’t push it much lower than -15 or try per-core tuning. With PBO turned on, a SOC of 1.30, and an Expo 1 setup (6000MHz, 30/38/38/96), I’ve seen record results on the 3DMark Timespy test (CPU top 33% at 16,701 and graphics top 21% at 36,965). My multicore performance on Cinebench R23 soared to 36,224, breaking previous marks.

But there are a couple of points that stood out:
1. During Cinebench R23, the multicore temps stayed fairly high, around 89°C. Any suggestions to help bring those down? My rig uses a 360mm Fractal Design Lumen AIO in pull mode, paired with the stock Hyte Y60 case and three static fans. The side panel is off for better airflow.
2. My single-core score on Cinebench sits near 1926, which is impressive but not unbeatable. Could tweaking the test—like running it as a “game” during single-core runs—help with core parking and boost performance? I’m also curious about the CPU PROFILE score on 3D Mark (not Timespy) being only in the top 42%.

I’d love to hear your tips, tricks, and experiences. How can I manage heat better during heavy multithreaded tasks? Are there ways to improve the single-core rating? Could repasting or re-seating the CPU make a difference? I’ve seen similar builds in Linus’s “500FPS PC” video, which ran cooler (5-10°C) in Halo Infinite at 1080p. While I’m using a 240Hz monitor for CPU tests, I want to compare honestly.

Thank you all in advance for your guidance and support. Your insights would be invaluable as I fine-tune this setup. Let’s collaborate and tackle these challenges together!

Best regards, Keiko-chan

Single core performance for a 7950x is around 2k, which fits within the ~10% accuracy of the 7950x3D's capabilities given its constraints. The 3D version can reach up to 5.25GHz, while the 3.0GHz is typical for my test setup. I haven't run a single-threaded test on the 3D unit with R23 due to performance issues. If your system has more than 36k cores and only hits around 89C, it might not be worth the effort. Based on my experience, the chip will likely hit 89C with full multicore tasks. Sustained 4.8-4.9GHz on a 36k benchmark seems standard, around 36k Cinebench R23. The 3D version appears to be limited in performance. Personally, I prefer the CPPC with cache settings for full workloads. For regular heavy multicore jobs, using 8 extra cores usually delivers the best results with the 7800x3D. Running the second CCD at heavier single-thread tasks isn't as straightforward. The Processor Affinity option in Task Manager helps a bit, but it doesn't always lock settings.
