Hey Homies!
šŸ‘‹
I’m not a hardware expert, but I’ve been using this setup for years. It still performs decently, but I recently upgraded my monitor to
1440p 180Hz
, and now I’m struggling to hit high FPS in competitive games like
CS2, Warzone, Marvel Rivals
, etc. I suspect my
CPU might be the bottleneck
, since my
GPU (6700 XT) seems to be fine
.
šŸ–„ļø Current PC Build:
Motherboard:
Asus Prime B365M-A
CPU:
Intel Core i5-9400F (6C/6T, 2.9GHz, 4.1GHz boost)
RAM:
16GB G Skill Aegis DDR4 3200Mhz
GPU:
AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT
Monitor:
1440p 180Hz
PSU:
800w Gold
šŸ“ˆ What I Need Help With:
Now that my monitor upgrade is complete, I’m looking to
upgrade my CPU, RAM, and motherboard
. In my country, I have two options at good prices:
Intel i5-13400F
for
$100
Ryzen 5 7500F
for
$155
I’m not sure which one is the better choice—or if I need an
even stronger CPU
to ensure I get
higher FPS in competitive gaming
.
šŸ’” Looking For Advice On:
Which
CPU would be the best upgrade
for my use case?
Should I pair this upgrade with
faster RAM
?
Would either
i5-13400F or Ryzen 5 7500F
be good enough, or should I consider something else?
Any budget-friendly upgrade suggestions
for competitive gaming at
1440p 180Hz
?
I appreciate any advice—thanks in advance! šŸš€

Welcome to the forums, newcomer! In my country Where would this nation be? I’d steer clear of the 13th and 14th generation Intel chips because of their reliability problems. For AMD’s AM5 setup, a Ryzen 5 7600 or better would be ideal—though to be honest, the 7500F is essentially the 7600 without an integrated graphics card. PSU: 800W Gold The listed 800W is the rated power, and Gold signifies the 80+ efficiency standard. Could you share the model, age, and manufacturer of your PSU? Which CPU upgrade would suit my needs best? Given your focus on competitive gaming, it might help to note the games you plan to run without any extra features. If you’re doing more than just gaming, consider adding RAM as well. Should I pair this with faster RAM? For AMD systems, aim for dual-channel DDR5-6000MHz memory with low latency. Since you’re considering an AMD platform, look for RAM that lists AMD’s E.X.P.O branding on the box. Any affordable upgrade ideas for competitive gaming at 1440p 180Hz? We don’t know your budget, preferred purchasing channels, or what you’re willing to spend. You may want to highlight questions raised here about this thread; *How to Ask for New Build or Upgrade Advice*. This adaptation comes from the original post on Animal’s *How To Ask For New Build Advice* and reflects community input. Forums. and the group will likely offer useful tips.

IRAN
800W is the claimed power output of the device, while Gold represents its advertised 80+ efficiency level. What are the specifications—make, model, and age—of this PSU?
Its brand is Green, a well-known name in Iran, which I’ve been using for two years now.
You mentioned competitive gaming, so it would be good to note the games you’d like to tax the system with, along with any other activities.
Examples include Call of Duty Warzone, Dota 2, CS2, Marvel Rivals, GTA 6, Last of Us 2, God of Wars, and single player titles as well. I also play web browsing and gaming in general.
We don’t know your access details, preferred purchase channels, or budget for upgrading. You may want to include this information when discussing your needs.
I’m not sure myself how much I need to invest in a new PC build to meet my requirements. Is a budget around 7500F enough? I just need a solid setup to run games at 180Fps and higher on low settings (1440p), plus single player titles at 60 Fps on Ultra/High, and more. Perhaps later I’ll upgrade my card to a new AMDS.

Keep in mind that most motherboards are available in three build qualities. For instance, a MSI MAG B650 is considered lower quality compared to a MSI MEG B650, and the Asus Prime B650 is inferior to other Asus B650 models. I don't know how different manufacturers label their products by quality, so it's best to check before making a decision.
