I haven’t located your motherboard online, nor any board with a B390 chipset. It seems your motherboard might only support that particular speed, and I’m not sure mixing RAM speeds will help during gaming. You could try enabling XMP or DOCP in BIOS; the faster RAM might run slower to match it. Mixing RAM speeds isn’t advised for performance. If mixing doesn’t work, you’re free to return the RAM. As for upgrading, a 16GB system in 2022 should still be sufficient and likely will be even more so next year.

the quicker ram works if it fits the memory your system supports; if you're okay with using two 8GB modules instead of one 16GB, performance might drop in games. You could also consider getting brand new 2x16GB RAM to avoid issues. Maybe another person has better advice on mixing RAM—please wait for their reply, @PDifolco? Edited November 24, 2022 by podkall

Operates with mixed RAM at the lowest clock speed and highest latency among all units—sometimes it fails. Z390 likely supports XMP up to about 3200MHz, but your current sticks are underperforming; consider replacing them with two 16GB modules at 3600MHz for better results.

Their board model is B390, possibly a typo on the site. It's listed as an 8th generation Intel motherboard. More details can be found at the provided link: https://www.asus.com/no/motherboards-com.../techspec/
