Hello tech lover,
I’m not a networking specialist, but I’ve got some experience. Over the past few years, our town has switched to fiber internet, TV, and phone services. Recently, providers removed coax options, so we had to convert every wall outlet to RJ-45. This means all data travels over the internet, which affects our speeds (around 100 Mbps). When downloading, I sometimes forget to set a speed limit on my computer, causing lag on the TV and making it hard to watch. With many connections, I installed a patch panel and am now searching for a switch with around 16 to 24 ports where I can control internet speeds per port. I’ve looked around but don’t know which model is best—managed or regular? Thanks to this community, I hope you can help. And enjoy your evening!
Warm regards,
Hermansden

You should also consider a traffic prioritization rule on the edge router for internet traffic. Layer 2 sorting assists on the switch side, but it’s best to also manage the internet-facing port.
