Hey there, so I'm gradually getting into ordering components for my new build (currently running the 7800xt and Ryzen 5 3600 in 1440p at 180hz, planning to upgrade to the 9800X3D). I'm torn about choosing a motherboard because I really like the B650M Aorus Elite—it looks great and feels good. But I'm worried about potential issues with the 9800X3D, which have been a bit of a headache. I also need to flash my first BIOS and don’t know if switching to a B850M board would be better. Maybe the Gigabyte Gaming X is the way to go since I can’t find a black B850M Aorus for long. I’m looking for a solid, reliable motherboard that isn’t AsRock, as I’ve heard some bad experiences with them and the 9800X3D. So I want the top option in the price range of the B650M Aorus Elite, sorry if my comments came across that way.
The B650M Aorus elite works well with a 9800X3D. Some burning problems have been reported, mainly on ASRock boards, but overall it's rare given the number available. The B650M GAMING X AX also performs nicely for this chipset. I’ve used an ASUS TUF B650 PLUS WIFI with my 9800X3D, which I’ve overclocked from 5.2Ghz to 5.6Ghz. There’s no reason to worry about issues. It’s been running smoothly for several months. Most negative feedback comes from people who faced problems, while the rest simply enjoy gaming and have no complaints.
