However, I would have required a different case since any alternative power supply wouldn't fit the compact design. This would have meant I still needed a case, bringing me back to the same situation: a board with unconventional pins.

Opt for a Dell case to reduce the chance of connectors failing. Upgrade to a new board, cooler, and case instead of spending time removing plastic covers around pins.
