Looking for guidance on choosing a VPN?
Hey everyone! I'm not sure where to place this thread, so I posted it here for everyone to see. Could you share your thoughts on the various VPNs you've tried? What aspects did you enjoy or dislike? If you changed your mind about it, let me know what influenced your decision. Which one are you currently using? Thanks in advance! Edited August 10, 2020 by TCG_SS03 (added tag)
The company behind PIA, Kape technology, is headquartered in the UK. Access for the US requires navigating certain regulations.
It’s not about denying the value of a VPN, but wondering if you really need one. Many people adopt VPNs mainly because of the ads pushing them on YouTube. They can be helpful, but they’re just one part of protecting your data. Using a VPN alone won’t solve everything—especially when trying to bypass location blocks or access restricted material.
I choose PIA since Linus suggested it because I trust its performance with my usual tasks. It wouldn’t be a good fit if you rely on Netflix, as they block VPNs and PIA doesn’t aggressively bypass those restrictions like some alternatives do. However, I appreciate the interface and how quickly and reliably it connects, which keeps me using it.
