I’m considering placing an order for the specified build. I selected the Gigabyte Z790 UD AX and was told to avoid MSI boards due to potential overheating concerns. Compared to MSI options, which offer faster shipping, the Gigabyte has a two-week delivery time versus a few days with MSI. Since I’ve used MSI boards before without major issues, I’m curious if they’d still perform well now. I also checked a few MSI alternatives—Z790 GAMING PLUS WIFI, PRO Z790-P, and PRO Z790-S—and wonder if any of them would be suitable. Would it be better to wait for the Gigabyte or go with one of the MSI models? Thank you for your advice.

I'm organizing a 14700k build and need guidance on motherboard options. The models GIGABYTE Z790 UD AX, MSI Z790 GAMING PLUS WIFI, and MSI PRO Z790-P are in mind. I prefer Gigabyte but it has a two-week shipping delay. MSI is discouraged for this CPU due to overheating concerns. Should I stick with one of the MSI boards or wait for the Gigabyte?

For continuous all-core tasks, choose the Gigabyte board—14th generation performance is more about heat management than raw speed. The additional phases can make a noticeable difference in that scenario. If you're just using it for casual activities like gaming, browsing, editing videos or photos, any of these options will work well.
