He’s got a basic setup for gaming. With an old i5, limited RAM, and a decent GPU, you’ll want to stick to simpler titles. Racing games like "Need for Speed" or "Wrecking Ball" could be a good start. If he’s into older titles, check out "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City" or "Red Dead Redemption 2." Avoid anything too demanding to keep things smooth.

I noticed my dad enjoys puzzle games such as Portal. He also mentioned that Prince of Persia (the original) had superior graphics, though that’s just nostalgia for you.

He loved playing all the old 80's arcade games. Maybe begin by recalling those times?

Terraria offers me lots of enjoyable time and is quite straightforward, though I'm not sure if that matches his style

Get him back into flight simulation! Their group has many experienced users and plenty of helpful guides for someone like him, who probably isn’t very tech-oriented. Plus, flight sims such as FSX or xplane work well on modest systems. He can easily enjoy flying with a GT 520!
