I’m searching for a game that’s great for group play without nonstop action. It should have a persistent lobby or world to explore, not just a fast-paced experience. I enjoy fantasy titles like WoW, GW2, Aion, and Black Desert Online, but also liked Warframe for its sci-fi vibe. Minecraft works for me, though some friends don’t like it. Finding a suitable virtual space seems challenging right now, but I’m willing to try something new.

Thanks for the input, I understand you already own GTA V but haven’t explored the online mode. Hopefully, some friends will be interested, even if it might not fully match the free-to-play approach many prefer.

GTAV (online) offers a private lobby for just friends, which is really enjoyable for casual play. But keep in mind, the online mode can be overwhelming if you're saving up for major purchases—it’s packed with micro-transactions. Most new DLCs come with high-cost items that are hard to afford, making it tough to enjoy the experience without spending a lot.

I strongly suggest giving LOTRO a shot. Initially it's accessible for free until around level 30, after which entering new areas requires buying expansion packs or purchasing a subscription. Many players overlook the value of progression, but there are alternatives—spending your LOTRO points wisely. You earn them by finishing quests and similar tasks. Still, the game offers a vibrant community with friendly interactions. People enjoy roleplaying and sharing experiences. I personally prefer the Landroval server. If you're not interested in completing quests but want to level up (some instruments need a minimum level), crafting is a great way. The Yeoman profession fits well—farming and cooking let you grow crops, prepare meals, and use them to earn experience points. You can also sell your farm products at the in-game auction house to buy cosmetics, horses, houses, or other items. There are various types of "pipeweed" that produce unique smoke patterns. As a farmer, you can cultivate these. You can create dyes to alter cosmetic colors and participate in festivals such as Winterfest or Springfest, which provide cosmetics, pets, kites, horses, emotes, and dance challenges. These events are easy—like collecting colored eggs or picking flowers—and they're very enjoyable. My top pick is the Fall Festival with its spooky haunted funhouse. Oh, and don't forget—they offer fireworks like skyrockets and colorful fountain-style explosions. The options are endless. You can enjoy the game indefinitely without spending real money or engaging in combat. It's completely free, so you can try it out without risk.
