Historically I and my wife have played games on different systems—she uses a PS4 while I use a PC. Recently she's shown curiosity about trying PC games so we can enjoy them together. I'm seeking recommendations for cooperative titles that allow us to team up effectively. She enjoys games with deep stats and strategic elements, where building a playstyle is rewarding. Titles like Monster Hunter series, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Ni No Kuni 2 come to mind. She also likes character development in games. While not essential, having a co-op experience with comparable progression would be great. Overall we're open to suggestions and happy to hear your thoughts.

I’ll update this if I see more Torchlight 2 – a fun co-op story game with gear progression like Terraria – is a progression-focused title where you can pick magic, melee, or ranged options. Dauntless stands out as a free PC game with a lot of unique characters, abilities, and weapon choices. It’s very similar to Monster Hunter: Warframe, another free PC title with a big variety of unique frames and options.

Overcooked 1/2 and Ultimate Chicken Horse are great, but they can really strain relationships. Planning gets tricky with them. A friend suggested A Way Out might work too, though I haven’t checked it yet—don’t expect me to be impressed.

I believe I might have lingering PTSD from the early sessions of Overcooked 2. Thanks for the suggestion!

Risk of Rain might come across as quite funny. If you like it spicy, it could get even more intense.

I've played Overcooked 2, but I'm curious if it's any less tough than before. Can you imagine how hard it is to manage the chaos in another game?
