Earlier this morning my machine powered off unexpectedly. I was engaged in a podcast and a light game (the updated version of Binding of Isaac) when audio disappeared, the video froze, and then the monitor lost its signal. After a brief pause, the screen went dark and stayed off. The internal lights remained lit—HDD indicator and one debug light—but others were off. I wasn’t sure if the debug light stayed on during operation or which one actually lit up. I tried to shut it down by pressing the power button and restarted, but it kept activating the GPU light. After that, I disconnected and reconnected the GPU, then rebooted again. This time the issue stopped at the CPU and RAM lights. I powered it off once more and swapped the GPU in and out one at a time without success. Also, I cleared CMOS and attempted a test with the GPU removed. Nothing worked.
Notably, I experienced a recent power interruption lasting several days. My UPS managed to allow shutdown during the first failure, but after restoration it failed to switch to battery backup, causing a complete hard shutdown. This happened just over a week ago, and a new UPS battery was installed recently—system functioned normally for about a week. I intend to test the GPU in another machine when possible, though I don’t have access to an AMD system or any motherboard. (Or RAM slots) The current setup is a Ryzen 7 7800X3D with an ASRock B650M PRO RX 7900 XT graphics card, powered by an EVGA Supernova 750 P5 (750W) Sapphire Pulse RDNA 2 chip. Everything seems to still be covered under warranty, which is encouraging, but I’d appreciate some guidance on next steps before ordering parts. Thanks to everyone for any advice you might have.
Consider removing the GPU completely and disabling the igpu. This should help identify if the problem lies with the GPU.
