Looking for easy-to-play free Steam titles that won’t stress your system? I’m checking out some chill games that run smoothly on older hardware. The Stanley Parable is my favorite, but I’ve got other options too—something smooth and not too heavy on the GPU.

Lisa is showing a painful video of the paint drying. Want more?

Don't just play Flight Simulator 98 because of the world trade towers. FTL is affordable and you can enjoy it using a keyboard.

TF 2 no longer fits in hell. Many folks share game builds online—either as resumes or for fun challenges. There’s a project on itch.io that recreates or continues the PT demo from Silent Hills.

(I'm okay with a slight edge in intensity) Age of Empires offers a gentle pace with minimal blood and lingering skeletons after fights. Gunpoint lets you play without lethal force. Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 provides a non-lethal experience unless you're feeling reckless. City Skylines centers on city management, tolerating pollution if it suits your style. Prison architect could be intense for some players depending on their courage. FTL introduces explosions, though that might not suit everyone. Mostly any racing titles appeal to you, plus Dirt Rally, Dirt 3, and Burnout Paradise are favorites.

TF2 offers a fairly casual experience, even in multiplayer mode.

I suggest listen to HL and wear earbuds. It should work.

I once enjoyed Path of Exile with background music. The game is now massive thanks to all the free expansions. The latest one, Atlas of Worlds, is just released.
