I upgraded from an Intel Core i7-8700 non-K to the I9-9900K and chose an ASUS ROG Strix Z390-F GAMING motherboard. Right after installation, my CPU temps spiked significantly—around 65-70°C during idle with a voltage of 1.35V. After researching online and consulting forums (including ASUS), I discovered that the Vcore might be too high for a non-K CPU. I also learned about MCE on ASUS boards and its effect on CPU temperatures, so I disabled it. Despite adjusting the voltage to 1.15V manually, temperatures stayed elevated at 45-55°C during idle. The only hotspot was my CPU, which remains the focus of concern.

My build features a watercooler with a pump running at 2300RPM, a 240mm radiator, two intake fans at 2000RPM and two case fans at 1200RPM each. Under load (stress), temps rarely exceed 60°C, except for the CPU, which can hit up to 80°C. I reinstalled the watercooler, reapplied thermal paste (Cooler Master Master Gel Maker), tightened the cooling block securely, and cleaned the entire system. I updated my BIOS and ran multiple tests using apps like AI Suite 3, HWMonitor, and CPU-Z—results were consistent.

I expected much cooler idle temps, around 30-35°C, and about 60°C under load. The discrepancy in readings across tools is puzzling. One odd observation was that Vcore and CPU temperature varied between different monitoring apps. Could you help clarify what’s happening? Any details or screenshots would be appreciated.

Already checked before. Multiple times. The climate stays steady. Also, why does my CPU heat up so much at high voltages? After startup temps jump from 50 to 60°C and Vcore swings between 1.208V and 1.350V. My locked CPU runs smoothly at around 5.0Ghz or near it. I attached the monitor showing idle performance at 24°C. BIOS is set to auto except for MCE which is off. Manually lowering voltage makes it cooler but still above 45°C during idle.
